WELCOME TO OUR WEBSITE

2021

Dear Harbledown dancers,

Firstly I hope you are all keeping well and have avoided the virus. Now I have some very sad news for you all, I'm afraid.

I had a letter from Harbledown Parochial Committee saying that they need to make better use of the hall and raise more money from it as they (the Church) have been very badly hit by the pandemic.

They have accordingly found a nursery group who want to rent the hall full time and to leave their equipment out in the evenings. I have been given notice that our rental of the hall on Thursday evenings has been terminated.

This, I'm afraid, is the end of Harbledown as we know it. I know many of you will be very upset by this news as you have so loyally supported us and, I know, have enjoyed your Thursday evenings very much. I have greatly enjoyed organising and running the club which would have been 10 years old this September.

We are down but not out. The hunt is on for another hall that we can afford and has parking. So all of you look around and see what you can find. Our budget is £20 for the evening. We must have parking. I am trying to get in touch with Tyler Hill village hall which would be ideal but I think they are shut as Harbledown has been owing to the pandemic. We could charge a little more for entrance money and we have a little in the Harbledown bank account which could be called on after the insurance has been paid etc.

So there is is.

So sorry to be the bearer of bad news,

Love to you all,

Hilary

CORONA VIRUS

15th Oct 2020

Due to the continuing situation it is sadly very unlikely that the club will re-open for dancing this year. We might be able to have a limited Christmas party. The hall is completely closed at present.

15th April 2020

Due to the ongoing situation and following the government guidelines the club will continue to be closed. It is sadly unlikely that we will re-open before 3 September.

In the interest of the members I have decided to shut the club until Easter; when there will be a further review. If you want any further information then ring or email as per the contact details on this website.

Another new year!

We re-opened after the Summer break on Thursday 6th September.

The club is a folk dance club with mainly English country dances. We are in our 7th successful year. The club meets every Thursday in Harbledown in the Hall of St Michael and All Angel's Church. We currently have on average 20 dancers each night. The music is mainly from recordings but there are some live music evenings. There is a caller who explains the steps of each dance and then calls each of the sequence of moves. All standard of dancers are welcome. Partners are not needed. The cost is unchanged at £3 per session with tea, coffee and biscuits provided. The evening starts at 7.30 pm and finishes at 9.30 pm. There is limited on-site car parking and parking is also possible on the main road.
